It's about exploring, learning, co-creating ways of being together that foster genuine connection, intimacy, truth-telling, wisdom, discernment, a sense of belonging and mattering.
We need spaces where we can come together with others who care. We need places to learn to stretch our courage, hone our skills, and rest down in the circle of each other's strength and vulnerability.
The Room of 12 began as one of those emails that gets passed around. You've probably seen it. The one about what if you could get 12 of the most amazing women you know in the same room together. Nothing would be impossible.
So I decided that, while there were amazing women i know all around the world that i would LOVE to have in a room together, there were also some pretty darn amazing women right in my backyard and i needed to get to know them better. And i also figured the same was true for you.
So Room of 12 was born. I have no idea where we're going. But i'm loving the company.
What's the idea? Gather up to 12 women and find a place to get together in a circle once a month. Ring some bells, blow a conch, bang a drum...whatever you like to call you all present. And begin by sharing why you came: why this was the most important place to be, in this moment. Then let it happen. Talk, laugh, dance, sing, walk, cry, make art, meditate, chant, eat, trade backrubs or foot massage, plot political change, social innovation, new business ventures, whatever.
Nothing is impossible with a circle of good women at your back.
Then, when you're done, show up here and share what it feels important to share.
Keep the circles growing.
I will be sharing tips, techniques, and processes for those who care about that sort of thing over at my professional blog: A Deeper Life
